How Much Should a Model Weigh?
Last week, a Ralph Lauren ad featuring their long-time model Filippa Hamilton made headlines. The ad showed the model looking rail thin. Ralph Lauren designers and Photoshoppers transformed Filippa's 5'10", 120 pound frame into an unflattering emaciated image. Filippa told New York Daily News that she has since been fired because of her weight. Ralph Lauren responded by saying that Filippa is a "beautiful and healthy" woman but their relationship ended "as a result of her inability to meet the obligations under her contract with us." But that's not how Filippa sees things. "They fired me because they said I was overweight and I couldn't fit in their clothes anymore," she says. "I'm very proud of what I look like, and I think a role model should look healthy."
