Does Religion Affect Teen Pregnancy?
A recent study conducted by Drexel University College of Medicine and University of Pittsburgh revealed some shocking news. Researchers, Joseph M. Strayhorn, Jillian C. Strayhorn found that there is a strong correlation between teen pregnancy rates and the state's "level of religiosity."
The results were the opposite of what most people would assume. The study revealed that the more religious a state, the higher the rate of teen pregnancy.
Even though they're unable to pinpoint the exact reason behind the findings, Mr. Strayhorn suggests "that religious communities in the US are more successful in discouraging the use of contraception among their teenagers than they are in discouraging sexual intercourse itself."
