Kristen Weighs in on Dresses

As we all know, the world seems to be obsessed with being thin. One glance at the tabloids will reveal the media's infatuation with those pesky pounds. Weight loss, weight gain, eating disorders, dieting... it's enough to make a girl's head spin. Prom season should be about fun with your friends, not dieting!

There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to body type. Instead of trying to force your fab figure to an unnatural and uncomfortable shape or size, focus on the qualities about yourself that you LOVE. So what if your legs aren't reminiscent of Blake Lively's? Your uber-toned arms and shoulders are rockin' your dress! And who cares if you aren't 5'11''? You can wear your stunning stilettos without towering over your date!

Just like how any body type is not a one-size-fits-all, one dress is not perfect for all bodies. I know that with my more athletic physique and admittedly small chest, that I can wear strapless dresses. If you are a little curvier up top, halter dresses will keep everything in place. Wrap style dresses are universally slimming and so cute! If you are petite or very slender, steer clear of fuller skirts that can produce the preggers look. Short dresses are another excellent option; bubble hems work wonders with toned legs, and dresses in the style of Dior's "New Look" will emphasize a tiny waist if your legs aren't your favorite body part.

Look at dress details that emphasize qualities you love. Beading and crystals on a bodice will draw attention upward, and stylish straps can show off your shoulders. Satins and silks have a tendency to cling, so if you aren't comf putting much of your body shape on display, opt for a crisper taffeta. But don't be afraid to try on dresses of many varying styles; you never know what might work for you! Best of luck on your dress-hunting!

Stay stunning!
