What up, guys?
I hope you had a fantastic week! Have you been thinking about your dream dress? Did you go shopping? Did you find it? I took my own advice (see evidence, left)!
My BFF Sophia and I began our expedition for her dress on a sour note. I had a list of promising shops to check out, but the first two were not at all what we were looking for. Luckily, the third store had a whole prom section. She's thinking short, so we headed straight for the minis and mid-lengths. Unfortunately, we didn't find Sophia's dream dress, but we did figure out which styles look best on her. (P.S - everything!)
While Sophia was trying on, I looked around at other dresses and started thinking about accessories. This year, I'm searching for a striking pair of gold chunky heels for my short dress; hopefully wedges if I can get my way. Also fab and unexpected: awesome colors and LV-type details.
For those going long, it's all about jewelry and hair! Collar and bold bib necklaces are so buzzworthy. I just love big statement pieces in mussed hair, or a beautiful up-do with an awesome headband! Think Little J and B!
And while some dresses come pre-equipped with jewels, plainer gowns beg for a bold piece. Hip pieces to consider: cuffs, cocktail rings, or a long pair of earrings as shown by GG's mean girls. The neckline of your dress and your hair style must be figured out before you decide on your gems -- sparkle overkill will ruin your look!
Are you carrying a clutch? Call me a rule-breaker, but I don't think you have to match your bag with the rest of your ensemble; it can just coordinate. You won't be holding it the whole night, anyways! A great vintage bag would look fab with any dress.
I'll be perusing shoe stores and Zappos-ing like crazy this week... will you? Even if you haven't bought a dress yet, discovering a hot pair of heels may inspire a potential dress. Good luck in your searches (we'll keep looking, Sophia!) and keep dreaming of dresses!
'Til next week,
Elysia xx
