All the Huge Movie Roles You Didn’t Know Liam Hemsworth Turned Down

In Hollywood, it seems that ladies rule the world of almost starring in movie/TV projects; Emma Watson, Lucy Hale and Shailene Woodley are just a few of the actresses who turned down big roles. But you KNOW women aren’t the only ones who could’ve played big-name characters…men come and go just as quickly as their female counterparts.

For the first edition of the male portion of this series, we’re going to discuss all the roles that Liam Hemsworth almost landed. Check ‘em out below!

1. Jared Howe, The Host — When it was announced that Stephenie Meyer’s novel The Host was going to become a film a la The Twilight Series, TONS of big-name actors’ names were thrown around to make up the perfect cast. Liam was just one of the stars (along with Jai Courtney, Shiloh Fernandez and Kit Harington) who auditioned for the male lead. While he was highly considered to snag the part, Max Irons ultimately reigned victorious and starred alongside Saoirse Ronan on the big screen.

2. Jack McClane, A Good Day to Die Hard — According to Deadline, four actors were being strongly considered to play Bruce Willis’ son in the fifth installment of the Die Hard franchise: Liam, Aaron Paul, James Badge Dale and D.J. Cotrona. But, seeing as Jai Courtney was the one who landed the role, we’re not sure what exactly happened there. Even though Liam didn’t get the part, he wasn’t bitter and understood that everything happens for a reason. He told MTV News, “Like a lot of things in this town, sometimes you’re right for things, and sometimes someone else is better for the part.” Preach!

3. Daniel Grigori, Fallen — Back in 2010, fans of Lauren Kate’s novel Fallen were ecstatic when they heard that Lotus Entertainment was going to create a movie-version of the story. Flash forward to today, and the film still hasn’t been released. So, needless to say, fans are pretty used to waiting. In that period of waiting, there were a ton of rumors about the casting development, including Liam Hemsworth and Lucy Hale as fallen angels. When/if Fallen ever does hit the big screen (which we’re desperately hoping for!!), you’ll see Jeremy Irvine playing Liam’s would-be role.

5. Unknown character, The Raven — And speaking of movies that ~mysteriously~ fell apart, Liam was once attached to Universal Pictures’ feature-length adaptation (which Mark Wahlberg was supposed to produce) of the sci-fi short film with the same name. A few months after that information came out, it was announced that Gerard Butler was going to replace him as the lead in the Ricardo de Montreuil-directed project. This was in 2013. Now, more than two years later, there is basically no info on the project so…yeah…
