Will Arnett Confirms That Season 5 Of Arrested Development Isn’t Just An Illusion
Break out the frozen bananas and brush up on your chicken dancing (but maybe make sure you’ve actually seen a chicken first), because Will Arnett told Jimmy Fallon last night that Arrested Development will have a fifth season on Netflix. We’ve been hearing for a while now that they’re planning one, but for some reason hearing it straight from the Gob’s mouth makes it feel more definite and less like a trick. Mostly because a trick is something a whore does for money, and that just doesn’t make any sense.
Let me catch you up on this saga. As you may or may not remember, Arrested Development made a triumphant return for a fourth season on Netflix last spring. As soon as everybody was done binge-watching it (so basically the same day it was put online), we were already screaming for another season to happen. Because we’re spoiled brats. At the time, the Netflix CEO said they would be “willing” if the cast was willing. So that wasn’t exactly a “mark your calendars” type of thing, but at least it was something.
Then later the show’s creator Mitch Hurwitz was said the show was “definitely” coming back in some form. Awesome! But that was back in June of last year, and we still don’t have a new season. Or a movie. Or a stage musical. Or a novelization. Or an Instagram video. Or anything! But a few days ago Netflix chief of content Ted Sarandos said he was “positive” a new season would happen, and that it’s “just a matter of when.” He added that the cast’s schedules are a concern, since last season they weren’t all able to appear in every episode. Oh come on! This is obviously something you should clear your schedule for. Will, please talk some sense into your fellow actors.
