American Idol: Nicki Minaj Wants To Skin Candice Glover And Wear Her As A Coat

American Idol Premiere Event at Royce Hall in Westwood, CA

Candice Glover is about to tear it up this season in American Idol, guys, mark my words. Her audition aired last night, and the judges were so impressed by her performance that they unanimously sent her through. She sang her take on Duffy‘s song Syrup & Honey, with the judges hooting in appreciation throughout, and once she was done, Randy Jackson gave her a standing ovation and said she was “the best audition I have heard so far this season. What the what is going on?” (You know it's serious if Randy is busting out his Liz Lemon impression.) Mariah Carey followed suit and stood up, too, asking Candice for a mixtape and effusing, “I felt you, I felt you. Can we listen to you for the rest of the day?”

Pretty good shit for a 22-year old currently working as an administrative assistant in North Carolina, right? Especially because this isn't her first go-around at auditioning for Idol. Last year, she was cut in the Vegas round, and as much as she tried to be positive, she was really affected by it. But some things really do happen for a reason, because this self-described ‘church singer' says she's done a lot of learning over the past year. She says she's matured and grown into a greater sense of identity as a singer, which doesn't surprise me…since she's still very young. But what a great experience for a young aspiring singer, to be told she was the best audition of the season. What totally normal, standard compliments that were not at all weird.

Oh…did I forget to tell you what Nicki Minaj said? She was so impressed with Candice that she kept repeating, “I'm obsessed with you, I'm obsessed with you. I'm not even qualified to judge you right now. If you don't go to the last round of this competition, there's something wrong.” Aw, that's sweet. I wish she had stopped there. But strangely, she followed that high praise up with, “I want to skin you and wear you.” Ummmm. Okay. Thank you? I mean please don't, but thank you. I'm glad my singing has so impressed you that you find yourself drawn to my glorious pelt. What a totally normal and not at all weird compliment.

Now just back out of the room slowly, Candice. And Nicki, keep your hands where America can see them.
