The Trailer For Netflix’s Wet Hot American Summer Series Is Overflowing With Celebrities

Wet Hot American Summer Netflix trailer

If you've never seen the 2001 comedy Wet Hot American Summer, about a bunch of summer camp counselors in the early '80s, you're missing out on one of the best cast lists ever put together in the history of cinema. Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Banks, Molly Shannon, the list goes on and on. Despite starring some of the funniest people in Hollywood, the movie's remained somewhat of a cult classic. And you know who's got a thing for reviving cult classics and in turn thoroughly delighting said cults? Netflix. They brought Arrested Development back from the dead, and now they just released the trailer for their new Wet Hot American Summer series.

The show, titled Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, stars all the people I just mentioned, plus plenty more from the original movie, as well as a bunch of new faces. Well, they're actually old faces, in that we've seen them plenty of times before, but we just haven't seen them in this context. For example, Jon Hamm. Or Chris Pine. Or Kristen Wiig. Or Jason Schwartzman. Just to name a few. I'm serious when I say the cast list for this movie reads like the the guest list for my dream wedding. (Not that I spend my free time putting together lists of celebrities I'd want to invite to my wedding or anything. That would be dumb. Who does that? Not me.)

The best part about this is that not only are a lot of the actors still playing teenagers (which they were already too old to be playing in the movie), but they're actually supposed to be younger in this one. So get excited and mark your calendars for July 31st, when the series' eight episodes will be available to stream on Netflix. Happy summer!
