If you ever needed proof that there really is no way to win Valentine's Day, may I share a recent event in the life of Vanessa Hudgens. To celebrate the romantic holiday this year, Vanessa and beau Austin Butler took a nice getaway to Coconino National Forest in Sedona, Arizona to celebrate their love and take in nature in all it's majestic beauty. And then, overwhelmed with that beauty, they defaced a rock. But, like in the most romantic way possible. Vanessa and Austin carved each of their names into a red rock with a heart around it.

While that seemed like foolproof plan to cement their undying love it turns out there's there's a federal law banning anyone from “damaging natural surfaces or property of the United States,” as TMZ found out. So now Vanessa is facing the possibility of paying a fine $5,000 dollars or “appear in court to answer to the misdemeanor violations of defacing and/or damaging natural features” where she could receive a six-month long jail sentence.

The best part of the whole saga in that Vanessa and Austin's illegal act of love was only discovered after she posted it on Instagram and someone alerted the authorities at Coconino National Forest about it. So a life lesson for all of us- when you feel the need to make a lasting memory with your bae that might be illegal try to keep it somewhat to yourself or maybe, if you must share it, try Snapchat.
