Top 11 Hit The ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Stage

Cristina SantanaBring on the choreographers! Last night, So You Think You Can Dance‘s Top 11, who were just revealed to us on Wednesday night, hit the big stage in Hollywood, dancing in their own style in groups with the All-Stars.

So, for the first time we saw our Top 11 newbies all dressed up and dancing to pieces choreographed by big timers like Wade and Amanda Robson, Sonya Tayek and Napoleon and Tabitha D'Umo. And, we also saw the new contestants dancing with the former contestants, now called the All-Stars. And I must admit, it was difficult to focus on the new guys when the All-Stars are just so amazing. For example, the lone ballroom dancer Cristina Santana was paired with the incomparable Pasha Kovalev and Anya Garnis (pictured), and I did not envy her. After her performance, which had her squaring off against Anya as they competed for a shirtless Pasha's attention, judge Nigel Lythgoe gave the lone criticism of the night, telling her she had “lazy feet.”

Similarly, sole b-boy Jose Ruiz was overshadowed by hip-hop dancer Comfort Fedoke and fellow b-boys Twitch and Dominic Sandoval in a Nappy Tab-choreographed piece. I'm sorry, my eyes will always be on Twitch whenever he is on stage.

Acknowledging this possible concern for viewers and judges, Nigel said on his Twitter this morning, “Judging a contestant from an All-Star should be easy. The contestant will be male or female & the all-star will be the opposite sex! Simple.”

I guess we'll find out next week when the dancing, and the judging, and the voting, starts in earnest. I already have some favorites: Lauren Froderman, Kent Boyd and Alex Wong are all incredibly strong dancers, although Alex has to work a little on his personality. And Alexie Agdeppa has a great, bubbly personality, and I can't wait to see her in other styles.

Who are your favorites so far? Who will you be voting for next week?
