The Voice Week Two: Who I Liked And Who I Hated

By  |

This week of blind auditions on The Voice was not as strong as week one. There was nobody I absolutely loved and got excited about. Obviously the coaches don't feel the same way as me because they were picking up artist after artist for their teams. One thing I am happy about is that there are a lot of women on teams this season. I'm so bored with men winning singing competition shows. The past two seasons of The Voice have had a male winner, and American Idol hasn't seen a woman win since season six.

If I seem a little biased for the women this season, that's why. I don't understand why women like Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and Rihanna are dominating the radio, but women can't dominate singing competition shows. So let's get to it. Here's who I loved liked and who I hated this week on The Voice.

1. Melanie Martinez
When this quirky girl with two-toned bangs said she was going to sing Britney Spears‘ “Toxic,” I thought there was no way she was going to get a chair to turn. However, I did not realize her interpretation of the song would be so different from the original and still so good. I love the way her voice sounds, and I can see myself listening to her on a cool, fall day. All the judges except Christina Aguilera turned around, and Melanie went with Adam Levine.

2. Liz Davis
I'm not really a country music fan, but I love Liz. She's gorgeous, she has a great voice and she's an awesome performer. She said the words “all right” before singing, and Adam said that was the first time he wanted to push the button before even hearing someone sing.Ultimately she went with Blake Shelton because he pulled out one of his country music awards to coax her to his team.

3. Collin McLoughlin
I LOVED this guy. Something about a guy with a great voice and a guitar gets me every time. Collin dropped out of grad school to pursue music, a decision his parents weren't happy about. But once he got chairs to turn around, his mom admitted she was wrong. He was really mellow, and I hope he goes far in the competition on Team Adam.
