The VMAs Hunger Games Teaser Trailer Was a Complete Letdown

Why are you so cruel, MTV? Hunger Games fans have spent the last few days salivating for the teaser trailer for Lionsgate's movie… we wait through the whole VMAs for Jennifer Lawrence to introduce it… only to discover that it's appallingly short and features only Katniss! All we see is Katniss racing through the Arena, and a voiceover from Gale (Liam Hemsworth). The one truly good part was the music.

Sure, it's not a boring promo. There's fire — instead of the Capitol hovercraft, like we thought, it's someone burning down trees to sabotage Katniss. It's definitely exciting, but we figured that after Lionsgate basically wrapped up filming in North Carolina, they'd have more to show us. How about Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) declaring his love for Katniss in front of Panem's millions of TV viewers, or some of the other famous tributes like Rue and Foxface?

Look, we know the movie is going to be awesome. We trust Lionsgate to recreate the tension of the Capitol and the carnage of the Games to match what shocked and compelled us in Suzanne Collins‘ book. We just wish that MTV could have shown a lot more of the movie — or at least not hyped it up so much!
