Watch Kelso From That ’70s Show Freak Out About Computers In The First Clip From jOBS

If you, like me, have been lying awake at night wondering whether Ashton Kutcher was going to pull off the role of Steve Jobs in Jobs biopic jOBS, or if he was going to do a bad job because his intense handsomeness and bubbly himbo nature would get in the way, wonder no more. The first clip from the movie has just been released, and it is…informative.

In it, we see Kutcher as Jobs sounding just a bit too much like Michael Kelso from That '70s Show as he babbles on about the magic of computers. (Granted, “any” is probably too much for Steve Jobs to sound like Kelso.) “No more mainframes? That changes everything! …Your big evolved brain wanted something that didn't exist, so you just willed it into existence.” Sounds like someone's been taking their Black Sabbath albums a little too literally. But wait, it gets better.

“How does somebody know what they want if they've never even seen it?” Remember the episode where Kelso said that to Jackie, and it wasn't about a computer?

I realize it's a little unfair to mock Kutcher for always sounding like Kelso when he's excited, as that's probably just how Mr. Kutcher interprets excitement. And he certainly has a generically dorky quality to him that could morph into true nerdiness over the course of the movie. But as of now, it still feels super silly to watch the same guy who played Kelso playing some sort of real life genius. He's got his work cut out for him if he wants us to forget.
