Stephenie Meyer Agrees With Robert Pattinson That Twilight Sucks, So Now We’re All On the Same Page?
Whether you love the in/famous Twilight series so much that you alienate your family and friends due to your obsession or you hate it as much as Robert Pattinson does, you surely have an opinion on it. And, naturally, so does its creator, Stephenie Meyer, although it probably isn't the one that you might expect. As a matter of fact, Stephenie just joined the “Wow, I Wish I Never Wrote That” club with a lifetime platinum membership because she thinks that the books and the movies are stone cold life-ruiners.
Sugarscape reported that in an interview with Variety, Stephenie confessed that she's not into the series at all any more.
“I get further away [from Twilight] every day. I am so over it. For me, it's not a happy place to be.”
Her stance on her work is pretty sad, if you think just long enough about it. Here is a woman who was able to share with everyone an elaborate fantasy world that she'd invented and written about, only to be her very own biggest critic just a few years later. It's like spending a full day lining up dominoes all throughout your house in an effort to make the most epic chain reaction thing and then violently sneezing and Godzilla-ing the formation. In both cases, the parties responsible feel a crippling mixture of dread and regret.
“I just don't think they enjoy the parts [of fame] that other people would. And I totally get that, because it would not be my thing either. If they had the choice, I've no idea if they'd even do Twilight again. I just don't know. I think this has all come at a heavy price.”
Well, I, for one, would just like to say that I know with a 99.9% certainty that, knowing all that they know now, neither Rob nor Kristen would go back in time and re-do their roles. For evidence of that claim that I just made, look no further than the fact that Kristen practically lost the ability to smile since making these films and that Rob makes a game out of how miserable he can seem whenever talking about them.
Just look at that grimace, the disgust in his eyes, and the way he calls the first-born child of his character “creepy”. Those are all signs of someone who is thinking, “I have made all of the worst choices in life and now I must suffer through them.”
But worry not, little Robbie and anyone else juggling large amounts of the bad kind of fame because of this series. You don't have to schlep through your dislike of Twilight in solitude. After all, you've got most of the world and, now, Stephenie Meyer on your side of the Twilight protest line.
