Sofia Vergara’s First Commercial Was An Early ’90s Bikini Clad Pepsi Ad

Yesterday, the beautiful and funny Sofia Vergara was on The Ellen Degeneres Show to talk about life and generally mess around. Ellen brought up her new endorsement deal with Diet Pepsi, which, as it turns out, is part of a cosmic cycle that began way back in 1990 or so, when a 17-year-old Sofia did her first ad back in Colombia.

Ellen played some of the ad on her big screen, but here is the complete version:

As you can see, it stars a young Sofia Vergara as a woman so hell-bent on getting an ice cold Pepsi, she takes off most of her clothes and uses them as stepping stones across the hot, hot sand. “That was a very very big commercial at the time in South America. I became famous,” she explained to Ellen. “And then I came here, and then I went to Pepsi again and I charged them more.” Shrewd business woman!

But, she explains, she is endorsing Diet Pepsi now, not regular, because “at 40, you can't allow the extra calories.”

Then, to mix things up a little, Ellen tried to distract Sofia by spraying her with silly string and breaking bottles over her head while she tried to deliver some promotional Pepsi copy:

Is it just me, or do these two seem to genuinely have a lot of fun together? I hope they invite me to their next sleepover.
