Seth Meyers Managed to Relate the Birth of His Son to Hamilton Seth and Alexi jpg

Congratulations to Seth Meyers and his wife Alexi Ashe, who over the weekend welcomed their first child together, a baby boy. Seth took to Twitter this morning to thank everyone for their kind words and give an update on everyone’s health.

He also managed to relate the situation to Hamilton, aka that Broadway musical that everyone you’ve ever known in your life is suddenly obsessed with to the point of being able to talk about nothing else even though most of them have only heard the soundtrack and haven’t even seen the production live. Sorry. Can you tell I’m not on the Hamilton train? I mean, is it that obvious?

Anyway, here’s what Seth said.

For those of you who, like me, just don’t #getit, Seth is referring to a line in one of Hamilton‘s numbers, sung by Alexander Hamilton’s wife Eliza, which goes, “Look around, look around at how lucky we are to be alive right now.” There’s also a line that goes, “History is happening in Manhattan, and we just happen to be in the greatest city in the world.” History in this case being Seth and Alexi’s baby being born, duh.

It’s only a matter of time before every single thing that happens is related to Hamilton. In fact, by this time next year, everyone is probably going to be speaking exclusively in lyrics from the show. And I’ll just be sitting here going, “I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU’RE TALKING ABOUT. NO, I HAVEN’T LISTENED TO IT YET. ON PRINCIPLE.”
