Selena Gomez’s Parents Like Justin Bieber Wayyy Less Than His Parents Like Her, Duh

Selena Gomez kissing Justin Bieber GIFI was just thinking — if the rest of us are this annoyed that Selena Gomez keeps getting back together with Justin Bieber, then what must her parents be feeling?

After all, we essentially have no involvement in this situation beyond seeing it unfold online via SXSW shoutouts and extremely awkward and difficult-to-watch dance routines, but they have to observe this toxic relationship' up close and personal affects on their daughter, and I can't imagine they're thrilled about it. But according to an insider speaking to E!, Selena's family has kind of given up on speaking to her about Justin's extremely negative influence on her:

“There's no talking to her. She's just going to do what she wants.”

Eek. That's a bummer. Reminds me of that time that Justin's mom Pattie Mallette gave up on parenting him and asked us to pray for him instead. I guess when you forget to discipline your son at all until he's nineteen, the only thing you can really do at that point is ask Jesus to take the wheel.

But luckily the internet exists, so we can see what Selena's parents are rumored to have said about Justin in the past — calling him a ‘punk' and ‘the worst thing ever to happen to Selena'. Strong words, but pretty fitting, dontcha think? There are people in Justin's camp who blame Selena and her negative influence for all the trouble he's gotten into lately (cough cough Jeremy Bieber cough cough), but for the most part, his parents like Selena waaaaaayyyyy more than her parents like Justin. It's absurd to the point of being hilarious.

While Selena's parents and team are busy blaming him for her rehab stay, here's what Pattie had to say about her son's girlfriend in 2012:

She's good for him and they're great together. Seriously, how could you not like her?…She's so sweet.”

Annnnnd then again in 2013:

“You know, I just try and support whatever he's wanting. I think [Selena is] a sweetheart, and whatever they decide is great.”
