If Selena Gomez Wants Us To Stop Associating Her With Bieber, Maybe She Should Stop Associating With Him

Selena Gomez did a new interview for the Sunday Times (via PopSugar) in which she discusses her relationship with several-times-ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber. As you may or may not know, Selena and Justin, or Jelena, first got together back in 2010 when they were just wee teenagers. Since then, they've broken up and gotten back together so many times I have a permanent crick in my neck from trying to keep track of all the back and forth.

Selena, however, seems surprised that the public has continued to be so fascinated with their relationship. Apparently, in her head, she and Justin were just a brief fling that everybody keeps bringing up for no reason:

“It's difficult for people to separate us. The Internet wants to freeze this moment in time and constantly repeat it.”

Selena, when you say “people,” do you mean you? And when you say “the Internet,” do you also mean you? Because everything you just said definitely sounds like something you would do. Actually, it's something you have done. Just take one look at our “Jelena” tag.

You're the one who finds it difficult to separate from Justin Bieber, because every time I turn around you're spotted with him on an ATV or a segway or some other wheeled vehicle. Either that or you're hanging out with him at church and releasing songs that are very obviously about your relationship with him. So who's the broken record here? You or us?

Sure, some websites like to make everything about their relationship even when it clearly isn't. (“Selena breathed! Is she doing it to impress Justin?”) But it's not like Selena broke up with Justin years ago and never looked back. They've reunited more times than I can count. It's not exactly freezing a moment and repeating it when there are several new moments being documented.

I would not be at all surprised if tomorrow we see new pictures of Selena and Justin riding a tandem bicycle around Los Angeles. And if it does, I'm going to paste the above quote over one of the photos in my scrapbook.
