Sorry Scandal Fans, But Even Olivia Pope Can’t Get Columbus Short Un-Fired

Columbus Short as Harrison Wright on Scandal

Welp, the time has come for Harrison Wright to turn in that white hat, gladiator suit, and all of the other cheesy jargon terms one can find repeated references to in any given episode of Scandal – because Columbus Short, the actor who plays Harrison, has been axed.  Shit-canned.  Fired.  Given the pink slip.  Terminated.  Down-sized permanently.  Which means that in Shondaland-speak, Harrison Wright will probably be (SPOILER ALERT, JERKS) killed off.

Perhaps you'll recall back in March, Columbus Short was arrested for assault following a barroom brawl after engaging an argument with another bar patron. More recently, there have been domestic abuse allegations revolving around Short's estranged wife, resulting in Short's wife filing for divorce and a restraining order. Pretty serious stuff, for someone who plays a sort-of hero on television. For his part, Columbus released the following statement about his departure from the show:

“Thank you Gladiators, who have supported me throughout my entire career and of course to ABC and Shondaland for allowing me to play such a pivotal role in the Scandal series. I have enjoyed every single minute of it. Everything must come to an end, and unfortunately the time has come for Harrison Wright to exit the canvas.”

Shonda Rhimes just wasn't having that kind of scandal surrounding Scandal, and we all know she doesn't mess around when it comes to firing actors for being complete assholes.  There's no Olivia Pope in a stellar white suit, handbag and gloves in tow with nary a hair out of place, coming to get you out of this mess.

So long, Harrison Wright.  It's been real.
