1. Chevy Chase (1975-1976)
The very first “famous” Saturday Night Live cast member was without a doubt Chase. Most of his fame came from the fact that he said his name on the show during ‘Weekend Update' — the iconic “I'm Chevy Chase, and you're not.” He left the show after the very first season to jumpstart his movie career. His career has gone on to mixed results — some absolute classic films, but also a less-than-desirable reputation. He came back into popularity with his stint on NBC's Community, but he was reportedly as difficult as ever to work with on the show.
