Sara Bareilles Brave video nurses HLN October 2013

Sara Bareilles' awesome song “Brave” has gotten a bit of attention in the past few months for a couple of reasons, the first of which being the fact that Katy Perry's single “Roar” sounds a lot like it and inspired everything from plagiarism accusations to catchy mash-ups. But more recently people have been humming the song because of a heartwarming and tear-jerking lip dub video made by the nurses and patients at the University of Minnesota Amplatz Children's Hospital. If you haven't seen the video yet, you can watch it below, but maybe have a tissue handy, because your eyes are likely to get a little watery.

The video didn't go unnoticed by Sara herself, because she Skyped in to HLN to surprise the nurses involved in the project. If you're already wiping away tears from the viral video itself, prepare to get a little more teary-eyed. Nurses Brittany Bloemke and Natalie Snyder were behind the video, and they were joined in the interview by Sarah Ewald, a former patient featured in the video who is battling cancer for a second time. They had no idea that Sara Bareilles would be talking to them, and they're thrilled to hear what Sara thought of the video.

Sara tells them “a friend of a friend who lives in Minnesota” told her about the video, and when she watched it her “eyes welled up.” At the end of the segment Sara even tells the ladies that the next time she's in the area she'll stop by and say hello. It's just a feel-good video all around, and it'll give you a renewed faith in people's ability to help and inspire one another. Now excuse me while I go listen to “Brave” on repeat for the rest of the day.
