Ryan Reynolds Is All of Us: He Can’t Assemble Ikea Furniture Either
Ryan Reynolds gave GQ his thoughts on fatherhood for the October issue, and he said he thinks he's doing a pretty okay job at it so far. But GQ wanted to give him a real challenge for any father (or, let's be real, any human) to see if he could assemble a crib from Ikea.
Sure, Ryan is in great shape, and seems like the kinda guy who could fix stuff (is that stereotyping? My bad.) but even he had the same thoughts we all do upon trying to assemble Ikea furniture: “what's Swedish for ‘fuck you'?”
Ryan quickly decides to call customer service, and says what we ALL say (or want to say) to the poor soul who answers the phone: “I'm calling about the Hensvik baby crib — no, no there's no problem with it, I think the biggest issue that I'm having right now is that the crib didn't come assembled.”
He throws around the manual in anger, as we all do, cracks open a beer, and tells the rep:
“Well, besides a slow descent into alcoholism I’m just really having trouble finding all the screws and the pieces that go with it. I mean there’s got to be over a hundred thousand pieces that came with it.”
He pleads for a representative (or five) that could come by and help him with it, and eventually settles on a half-assembled crib taped together with duct tape, with some toys and couch cushions thrown in for good measure.
Ryan, you're my everything.
