This Lovely A Cappella Rendition Of ‘Royals’ By Lorde Will Start Your Day Off Sassy
Are you having a grumpy day so far? Maybe you're not thrilled with the lunch you brought for yourself or you got elbowed on the train or somebody woke you up this morning before you could take the first bite of that giant ice cream cake in your dream. (Yes, those were all me.)
But fear not! For I have just the thing to cure what's ailing you. It's an a cappella version of Lorde‘s song ‘Royals' sung by the AcaBelles, an all-female group from Florida State University. (That for some reason does not include either Anna Kendrick or any other member of the Pitch Perfect cast. Negligent.) Sure, if you really wanted to hear this song but you were lazy, you could just turn on the radio any time you wanted and hear the original version within approximately two minutes of whenever you started listening, but what's the fun in that? If you did that, you'd miss out on this wall of ladies giving sass right to the camera as they beat box and bass line and alto harmony and soprano melody their way through this masterpiece.
Particular kudos go to the young woman in the center who does the solo, because she is serving ittttt. She gets super into her part as the song goes on, until you will be utterly convinced that she could beat you in a sing-off, walk-off, dance-off, and sass-off. All of the above. Watch and see for yourself.
The only thing missing from this rendition to make it as close as possible to Lorde's original version is a Twitter feud or two. So if I could offer you a piece of advice, ladies, it's to start a beef with Taylor Swift or Selena Gomez or something. Maybe about feminism? I'm just throwing out ideas, here. All in the interest of making it fully accurate, of course.
