2015 can be described in a lot of ways. The most accurate one, however, is it's the year Drake's “Hotline Bling” somehow creeped its way into every facet of our lives. Not that we really minded.

The song was released in July and was already on its way to Internet glory with its unbelievably catchy lyrics. Then, knowing he needed to take it to another level, Drake dropped a video for the song in October and that was it. Drake knew as much telling the choreographer from the video, Tanisha Scott, “This is totally going to be a meme.”

To help get the scope of the song's impact on the year, Stereogum created a supercut tracking the song from its first mentions to the diminishing returns on the dancing parodies (hello, Donald Trump).

The video begins with the emergence of the “Hotline Bling” trend in our national consciousness as one enthusiastic newscaster says, “Have you seen “Hotline Bling”?” Then The Daily Show‘s Trevor Noah, rapper Joe Budden and Rashida Jones share their opinions on the patented Drake dance moves.

Then comes the covers. All the covers. It seems like every musician took a crack at “Hotline Bling” this year. You got your pop stars (Nick Jonas, Sam Smith, Shawn Mendes),  country singers (Blake Shelton, Brett Eldredge, Thomas Rhett) and remixes by Keyshia Cole and Trina. Even marching bands and gospel singers got in on “Hotline Bling” madness.

While the song made an impact, those legendary Drake dance moves are what really hit home. We see how the video was inserted into just about every possible thing this year like Avengers movies and NFL touchdown celebrations. Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders even tried their best to copy the moves. Therefore proving if in some bizarre scenario it's a Trump vs. Sanders matchup next year, the deciding factor may just have to be a Drake judged dance-off.
