‘Real Housewives’ Quotes That May or May Not Be Stolen From a Christian Comedian

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Christian comedian Jeff Allen (aka Jeff Mishler), is suing NBC Universal (which includes Bravo) for stealing his trademarked phrase “happy wife, happy life.” If you remember on the first season of Real Housewives of New Jersey, star Teresa Giudice‘s husband Joe Giudice, busted out the saying when Teresa asked him for his opinion on whether or not she needed breast implants. Additionally, Kyle Richards Umansky (of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) said that “happy wife, happy life” was also her husband's motto. When Kyle said this on the show, the icon at the bottom read, “It's the housewives' unofficial motto” and directed viewers to Bravo's website.

Apparently, one of Jeff's comedy routines is entitled “Happy Wife, Happy Life” (which you can read about on his website) and he  makes a living selling DVDs of the routine and other merchandise with the saying. Bravo has also been selling T-shirts and coffee mugs with the same saying on them. According to Nashville Scene, Jeff is also suing Fabulicious LLC, a clothing line owned by Teresa, which sells products with the aforementioned saying (if there's one thing Teresa doesn't need right now, it's to be sued). Allegedly, Jeff's complaint says, “The defendants' goods and services are in conflict with the image Mishler associates with his comedy and his products… Specifically, ‘The Real Housewives of New Jersey' depicts a lifestyle and behavior which are considered crude, offensive, and unsavory to a segment of the public, particularly those who seek out Christian and/or family-friendly entertainment, key consumers of Mishler's goods and services.”

Whoa, whoa, whoa, there, buddy. I'm pretty sure every one of the Real Housewives of New Jersey has worn a huge, ornate cross around her neck at one point or another. I thought, to be thorough, Jeff should know about a few other trademark phrases from the Real Housewives franchise, which might or might not have been stolen from his own G-rated routine. Jeff, tell me if any of these sound familiar:

  • “Prostitution whore!” – Teresa Giudice, Real Housewives of New Jersey
  • “Coke whore bitch!” – Teresa Giudice, Real Housewives of New Jersey
  • “Close your legs to married men.” – NeNe Leakes, Real Housewives of Atlanta
  • “Who gon' check me, boo?!” Sheree Whitfield, Real Housewives of Atlanta
  • “Think of my vagina as a vase. If we've had sex, it's time to send flowers.” – Bethenny Frankel, Real Housewives of New York City
