Watch Neil Patrick Harris Sing With Anna Kendrick In The Oscars Opening

Neil Patrick Harris whitest Oscars opening 2015

Host Neil Patrick Harris just opened the 2015 Oscars, and it was just as energetic and musical as you'd expect from him. Plus, he made a white people joke in the first minute, so our drinking game is going really well so far. Then he performed a song paying tribute to the movie industry, complete with a dancing shadow a la Peter Pan and plenty of film clips. We also got a delightful shot of Benedict Cumberbatch drinking from a flask, so I'm just gonna assume he's playing our game too.

But arguably the best part of the opening was when Anna Kendrick showed up as Cinderella and joined NPH in a duet. It's a fact that everything is better when you add Anna Kendrick, so good job with that, Oscars. And hey, would you look at that? Jack Black still exists, and he got up on stage too. Oh, and don't forget the dancing Storm Troopers. They're very important.

I have to say I really enjoyed this opening, mostly because I'm the type of person who gets really jazzed over film history and movie tributes and themed montages and discussions about how movies reflect real life and how important they are, and blah blah blah I majored in Film Studies, okay? But go ahead and judge it for yourself. If you missed the opening or were too busy live-tweeting and need to watch it again, we've got it right here. Then take your guess for how many cups of coffee NPH had today in the comments.
