Props To Olivia Wilde For This Photo In Glamour Of Her Breastfeeding Her Son Otis

I'm not always the biggest fan of Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis — mostly because I don't need such constant reminders of how much sex they're having in every interview they ever give ever — but I have to give Olivia serious props for the photo shoot she did for Glamour recently.

It's for the magazine's September issue, and in one of the pictures, shot by Patrick Demarchelier, Olivia is breastfeeding her infant son Otis. YESSSSS. It's not that there's anything inherently exciting about a mother breastfeeding her baby (it's literally happening millions of times around the world right at this very moment), it's just that I'm so thrilled that we're finally taking some of the stigma away from this very natural process.

When a woman gets a boob out to feed a hungry baby, it's not a sexual or inappropriate thing, so it's always puzzled me that it's been treated that way up to this point. Which is why I really want to give a standing ovation not only to Olivia for being open to including this photo in her shoot, and to Glamour for taking it to print in the actual magazine and online. Progress!

Being shot with Otis is so perfect because any portrait of me right now isn’t complete without my identity as a mother being a part of that. Breast-feeding is the most natural thing. I don’t know, now it feels like Otis should always be on my breast. It felt like we were capturing that multifaceted woman we’ve been discussing—that we know we can be. You can be someone who is at once maternal and professional and sexy and self-possessed. [But] I mean, I certainly don’t really look like that when I’m [typically] breast-feeding. And there’s usually a diaper involved.”

Haha yes, fancy-pants gown and missing diaper aside (did they learn nothing from North West peeing on Kanye during the family's Vogue shoot?), I'm just so thrilled that we're finally at a point where a woman feeding her child isn't considered taboo. I didn't have to put ‘NSFW‘ in the title of this post, and I couldn't be more obsessed with that.
