NeNe Leakes Gets Cast On A Scripted TV Show, Anything Can Happen Now

By  |

Well call me Andy Cohen and get me a 5-night-week show called Watch What Happens, because Real Housewife of Atlanta NeNe Leakes just got cast in a scripted show. That's right, from Real Housewife to Real Actor. I'm sure everyone at the weekly Strugglin' Actors n' Waiters support group is just thrilled to hear this exciting news.

Apparently Ryan Murphy, the Glee producer, was so impressed with NeNe's work on Glee this winter that he wanted to cast her in his new show, The New Normal.

Deadline Hollywood says:

NeNe Leakes, who has been recurring on the current season of Glee as rival cheerleading coach Roz Washington, is re-teaming with Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy on his NBC comedy pilot The New Normal, about a blended family of a gay couple and their surrogate. On the project, co-created by Ali Adler, The Real Housewives Of Atlanta star NeNe will play the heavily recurring role of Rocky. She is with The Collective and attorney Darrell Miller.

You know what this means don't you. (And don't say The New Normal is a Kurt and Blaine spin-off.) The lines between reality TV and scripted TV are gone. Throw the rule book out the window. Someone can have their 15 minutes of fame and their Emmy too.

Prepare to see Gia Giudice on NBC this fall and get ready to see Ben Flajnik and Courtney Robertson on HBO. Seriously anything can happen now and the more prepared you are for seeing these people in scripted TV, the better you'll aim your remote when you throw it at your flatscreen.
