If you think about it, music videos are a lot like mini films. In the span of just a few minutes, there's always a pretty epic storyline to go along with those catchy tunes. But when these videos feature famous actors, whether it be a cameo or an opportunity to play a whole new role, it usually takes the visuals to a whole new level.
For instance, have you seen Dianna Agron and Chris Messina in the video for Sam Smith's "I'm Not the Only One"? As heartbreaking as it is to watch, these two gave stunning performances that allowed us all to relate to them on a deeper level. It just goes to show why Sam chose the best of the best, he needed actors who can translate the lyrics of a song and turn them into something quite powerful.
See which other stars have impressed us with their appearances in music videos:

The song was inspired by an encounter that the group had with some gay Jamaican kids while attending a film event. They decided to go with Andrew for their music video because they were really moved by his passion for the project.
"For a gay kid in Jamaica to see the actor who played Spider-Man in that role is pretty damn powerful, in my opinion." Win Butler told The Advocate.
There has been a ton of controversy surrounding this video because viewers felt it was suggestive of pedophilia. But Shia was still pretty stoked to work on the project.

Tom is actually good friends with Carly's manager, Scooter Braun. So one night, while they were having dinner, Scooter brought up the idea for this video.
Carly explained: "[Scooter] was telling [Tom] how I had this vision for, like, a male lead — that I wanted to have this guy sing the song rather than me, and I thought it would be really comedic and funny. And Tom was like, 'Well, why don’t you guys ever ask me?'" Amazing.
