Miley Cyrus Went Undercover As An Australian On Kimmel, And She Was Kind Of Hilarious

Miley Cyrus Jimmy Kimmel 2015

Miley Cyrus can't stop making me like her. Just when I start thinking, “Ugh, Miley,” she just pulls me back in and makes me laugh. Sure, I wish she would stop sticking her tongue out and mentioning weed every three sentences, but when she does things like last night's “I Witness News” on Jimmy Kimmel Live, she can be really delightful. And yeah, I'm actually looking forward to her VMAs hosting gig this Sunday. Some of the people she spoke to on the street about it, however, weren't so excited.

The concept of the segment is that Miley went undercover as a wig-clad, bespectacled, ill-fitting suit wearer from Australia to ask people their opinions on Miley Cyrus. The idea is that they won't recognize her. And because people are dumb, they don't. Or at least they're pretending they don't to go along with the joke. I'm pretty sure they actually don't, though. That's how much faith I have in Americans. Even the one guy who can kind of see through her act just says she looks like Miley.

As for Miley's performance as an Australian reporter (unfortunately not photobombed by Hugh Jackman at any point), she's pretty great. Her accent isn't amazing, but it's probably a lot better than I could do. But perhaps the best part is that she knows how to play along with the guests' comments. One lady can't remember the name of Miley's dad, so Australian Miley says she can't remember either and asks someone to remind her. And when that guy I mentioned before says she looks like Miley, she says that's why they hired her, but she's really from Perth. Basically, she's a good sport with a sense of humor, and I dig it. I wonder if any of the anti-Miley citizens in this video had their minds changed when they discovered the truth.
