Don’t Worry, Miley Cyrus’ Fake Homeless VMA Date Has Only Been Arrested Three Times

The story on this ‘homeless' guy that Miley Cyrus brought to the VMAs with her just gets better and better worse and worse. First we found out that he's not technically homeless at all, and now we're also discovering that he has multiple arrests, and is wanted for probation violation in Oregon. Charming.

It was just a couple hours ago that I wrote about the fact that Jesse Helt is actually an aspiring model who has a home in Oregon, just chooses not to live in it, and already there's another update on this nonsense. An Oregon court official tells Inside Edition that Jesse was arrested three times between 2010 and 2011 for various charges including criminal trespassing and criminal mischief. And here are his mugshots!

Since then, he's repeatedly violated his probation by failing to take a drug test, using marijuana, failing to report to his probation officer, criminal trespass, breaking his curfew, and failing to complete community service. (On the bright side, this sounds pretty similar to Lindsay Lohan‘s track record, so if fame really is Jesse's goal, he's on the right track!) There are so many violations piled up against him at this point that there's actually a warrant out for his arrest. Good thing your mom already announced that you'll be traveling home to Oregon today (on Miley's dime), so the police can be sure to meet you at the airport!

I fully understand that there are sometimes extenuating circumstances that lead to the arrest of homeless youth, but I really don't think this is one of those situations. It seems to me that Jesse is ‘homeless' due to convenience, not to need. He doesn't seem super invested in taking his life or his responsibilities seriously, which makes him a pretty perplexing choice to spread the good word of homeless awareness at the VMAs.

“I am accepting this award on behalf of the 1.6 million runaways and homeless youth in the United States who are starving, lost and scared for their lives right now. I know, because I am one of those people.”

Just a reminder to Jesse that there's a difference between starving and being scared for your life and not being able to scrape together enough money for headshots (bonus — now you have three!!!). And another difference between being homeless and not being able to return to your home because there's a warrant out for your arrest. Super great job utilizing resources that are intended for young people with no support system, though. Especially when your mom has this to say about you:

“He wanted to be in Los Angeles and he had opportunities and he took them, but you know, he’s had his ups and downs like anybody else. It was his choice, he was always welcome, he could always come back any time. If he needed help, I’d help him, we help one another.”

So not homeless. Not even a little bit. Just a failed model. And as for you, Miley, let this be a lesson that you shouldn't just drop by a shelter, pick up a human you know nothing about, put him in a suit and take him to a party as your charity project. He's not one of your dogs — he has a life and a history, and one that might not reflect so well on the cause you're trying to support. This is why it's important to do a little research before you can start patting yourself on the back.
