Miley Cyrus Says She’s Better Than Beyonce, Forgets That Beyonce Just Won The Internet [Updated]

Update as of 5:26 PM: Miley Cyrus took to Twitter this afternoon to say that the quote's made up and she's going to find out who did it. The Hollywood Life article that originally quoted Love magazine has been taken down since we published our original story.

Every morning, Miley Cyrus wakes up and says, "How can I make the news today?" Apparently, in the interview for her upcoming cover of Love magazine, Miley's headline-making plan was to diss Beyonce.

Miley's been showing a lot of love for Britney Spears lately, which I didn't understand. But now I get it. Britney's safe – everybody knows she's a bit past her prime. Miley is taking aim at the real queen: Beyonce.

Here's what Miley told Love, for the issue that comes out in March 2014.

“Beyonce has been a big inspiration to me but she's been out for such a long time. She's so talented and I think she's at the top of the game now but people are always looking for new blood and that's what I bring to the game now, new blood.”

Ok, pretty reasonable. But there's more.

“I got the total package you know, the curves, the rhythm, and the voice. I'm just the best.”

Um. And there's still more. Apparently, now that Beyonce is a mom, her stardom is over.

“As Beyoncé grows in motherhood and all the crap it does to your body, it will create a vacuum for fresh young faces to rise up and no one else can properly fill that void right now. I'm the only white female singer that could fill that slot right now and do it right, you know?”

I'm sorry Miley, what? Being the Beyonce loyalist that I am, this should probably make me mad. But I actually find it hilarious. There is no performer alive who commands a stage like Beyonce. She makes Miley look like a bad talent show act. All I have to say to the idea that Miley could ever reach Beyonce's level is… LOL.

And for Miley's sake, I really hope this interview took place before the release of Beyonce's visual album. That is a possibility, seeing as magazines tend to operate on a slower production cycle. Either way, Miley looks pretty ridiculous coming out with those comments after Beyonce won the internet and smashed records in a matter of hours. Somehow, her visual album was kept a complete secret until the moment of its debut, a real feat in the age of Twitter. The album shot to number one in 104 countries, and sold 828,773 copies in the first three days alone. It broke every iTunes record, and I can't remember a time when one artist generated such a frenzy so quickly.

Sit down, Miley. Take notes.
