Miley Cyrus Called Ed Sheeran An ‘Asshole’ Last Night, Proving Girl Can Hold A Grudge

Miley Cyrus calling Ed Sheeran an asshole at the 2014 VMAs GIFSilly old me, when I was watching the MTV Video Music Awards last night, I kept thinking that it was boring and nothing was happening. But by the cold light of day, I can see that there was more going on last night than caught the eye — like Miley Cyrus calling Ed Sheeran an asshole!

That's right, amid the Kardashian-Jenners texting their way through the Ferguson tributeBlue Ivy breaking our ovaries with cuteness by doing the ‘Single Ladies' dance, and Taylor Swift delivering a very pitchy version of her new song under all those backing tracks, there was an exciting new feud afoot.

When Ed Sheeran's video for ‘Sing' won Best Male Video and he went up to accept the award, he walked along the front row, exchanging high fives with someone sitting to the right of Miley, but not Miley herself. Annnnnd if you watch the GIF of that moment, you can see Miley's lips forming the word ‘asshole' as he passes by her and she turns her face to follow him.

Now, if you're anything like me, you're asking yourself in this moment what Ed and Miley could possibly be fighting about. And that would make sense, because according to Us Magazinethe inciting incident happened almost a year ago, when Miley released her video for ‘Wrecking Ball', and Ed had this to say about it:

“It’s a stripper’s move. If I had a daughter of mine, I wouldn’t want her twerking. When I first heard ‘Wrecking Ball,' I thought it was a brilliant song. But the video distracts too much from it.”

Strong words calling her a stripper, but considering she lit'rally took off all her clothing for that video, you can kind of totally see his point, right? Plus, there's a compliment buried in there, and it's pretty close to the top, even Miles! He says he thought it was a brilliant song, but then your behavior distracted from it. This seems to be a pattern with you, so maybe take a lesson from it? No? Or just throw out barbs on-camera at awards shows, it's up to you.
