We Should Honestly Be Happy That Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon Lasted This Long

By  |

Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon attending Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) January 2014For some reason people seem to be upset about the rumors that Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon are approaching divorce, but personally, I'm just shocked they lasted this long.

I mean think about it! They got married in 2008 after just six weeks of dating, Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom-style. (And we all know how that turned out.) That's not even close to enough time to really get to know someone, especially since Mariah has a serious reputation for being a diva, and the things that come out of Nick's mouth tend to be…less than intelligent. Like remember that time he decided Amanda Bynes was a-okay about a month before she was placed on an involuntary hold to be treated for mental illness? Yeah, doesn't bode well for his judgment.

Also, when he was asked what the secret to good marriage was back in 2009, his answer was “Lots of sex!”, so it's very easy to make the leap that once the sex isn't as great or plentiful or whatever anymore, that Nick would kind of tune out. Which is apparently exactly what happened, according to Page Six:

“He hasn’t been staying at their home. He’s been living out of hotels. They’re fighting a lot.”

But just because Nick's out of Mariah's sight doesn't mean he's allowed to do whatever he wants! According to rumors, Mariah suspects him of cheating on her, so when he hosted some pool parties in Vegas earlier this year, she sent a security guard to keep an eye on him:

“The security guard wasn’t there to keep the girls away from him. It was to keep him away from the girls.”

Oh damn! He was also supposed to do his best to keep Nick away from the bar, because Mariah allegedly thinks that Nick ‘gets in trouble when he drinks'. So weird, right guys? I can't believe that this relationship between two narcissists with a twelve-year age gap (Mariah is 45, Nick 33) might be falling apart after just two kids and six years of marriage. WILL WONDERS NEVER CEASE?
