Lucy Hale Describing Her 50 Shades Of Grey Audition Will Put You Off The Whole Movie
I already wasn't super (read: at all) inclined to see the Fifty Shades Of Grey movie whenever it finally comes out, but if I'd been wavering at all, listening to Lucy Hale describe her extremely awkward audition would've put me over the edge.
As you may recall, there was a longer-than-normal casting period for this film, and even after the leads were in place, there's been some difficulty holding onto them. (Run, Charlie Hunnam! Run for the hills you brave brave boy!) And hearing about the audition process for the role of Anastasia Steel, that all starts to make sense.
Lucy tells MTV that she went in mostly to try out something different from the character she plays on Pretty Little Liars, but ended up with an incredibly awkward experience that was ‘unlike any audition I have ever done before in my life.'
“It actually was just me [in the audition]. It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be. Very uncomfortable, but it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you’re just gonna look lame — hopefully, I didn’t look lame.”
So since she didn't have anyone reading with her, I'm imagining that she just stood in front of a group of people silently watching her and…what? Talked about sex? Simulated sex? An orgasm? Lucy doesn't give exact details, but she does say:
“Let’s just say I don’t want my grandmother watching this audition tape.”
Bleghhhh. My lip is actually curling up and away from my teeth in an involuntary grimace just writing this, is anyone else experiencing that?
If what they do on the first day they ever meet you — before you've even gotten the part! — is this uncomfortable, I can't imagine how absurd it's going to get by the time they're close to a finished product. I have full-body awkward shivers right now just thinking about it.
Nooooo thank you.
