Liam Hemsworth Saying Nice Things About Miley Cyrus Will Warm Your Heart
During this trying time of rampant celebrity break-ups, it's nice to hear from a former couple who's able to talk about their split without any ill will. Liam Hemsworth, for example, must have sensed all of us losing faith in celebrity relationships, because in a new Men's Fitness interview he says the nicest things about his engagement to Miley Cyrus.
Both Miley and Liam have been quoted saying very mature things about each other and about their relationship since they broke up in 2013. Just last year Liam said there's “no bad blood” between them. Here's his newest heartwarming statement about their time together:
You fall in love with who you fall in love with; you can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. [Laughs.] I mean, look—we were together five years, so I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be. She’s a free spirit. I think she’ll always surprise people with what she does, but she’s not a malicious person in any way. She’s a young girl who wants to do what she wants to do.
Wow, I forgot they were together five years. That's a long time for a couple so young, and it's nice to hear that Liam thinks of it as a positive part of his life rather than trying to erase that time from his existence. I imagine it can be frustrating to continue to answer questions about a relationship that ended two years ago, so the fact that he gave such a thoughtful response is really impressive.
Is it weird that a celebrity talking positively about his failed relationship is now making me believe in love like I never did before? That's not how it's supposed to go. This isn't who I am. I'm supposed to be scoffing and making cynical comments about how love never lasts and placing bets on when the next celebrity romance will die. And all this from a quote about a couple who didn't even stay together? What is happening to the world?!
