Lena Dunham And Jemima Kirke Start To Dance To ‘We Can’t Stop’, Then Ruin Everything By Stopping

Lena Dunham Jemima Kirke Dancing We Can't Stop

Just when I thought that Lena Dunham and Jemima Kirke would win me over with their impromptu performance of Miley Cyrus‘ “We Can't Stop,” they stop. Just straight up stop. But let me back up for a second here and go back to the beginning of this story. Many moons ago Lena Dunham created, produced and starred in a groundbreaking show called Girls on HBO. Too far back? Okay, fine, I'll fast forward.

So somewhere between season one and season two of Girls, Lena Dunham ceased to be a real live person in my mind. When the show first launched, I basically considered us to be one in the same. Just two twenty-something girls living in New York City and writing for a living. Sure one of us got a TV show on HBO and one of us got food poisoning from eating chip dip in the park at the end of a long hot summer day. But still, we remained equals in my mind.

Then, twist, she goes all Hollywood on me and suddenly becomes a legit celebrity with legit success — just leaving me in the dust, googling “does onion dip go bad?” alone in the park. Not only did she get a multi-million dollar book deal, an Emmy award nomination and a shout out from Amy and Tina, but she also gets to date a real live musician who's so cool that he puts periods wherever he wants. All of this is why I'm now forced to refer to her as a N.A.R.P (not a real person for those of you who hate abbrevs).

For some silly reason I thought this random video of her and her definitely N.A.R.P-y friend/co-star Jemima Kirke dancing to a Miley Cyrus song would put us back on the same level. But they stopped before it even started, halting my dreams before I even got a chance to close my eyes. Whatever ladies, you win, celebrities are not like us.
