The Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Is Here, and It’s Adorable
It's a scientific fact that Lego makes everything better. Well, unless one of the bricks is on the floor and you don't have shoes on. Then it makes everything much, much worse. But otherwise, adding Legos to something, especially a movie franchise, is guaranteed to up the cuteness factor by at least 50%, if not more. That's why I so thoroughly enjoyed watching the new trailer for Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the upcoming video game to be released this June.
The trailer is a silly recreation of the first teaser for the movie, so you get to see adorable Lego versions of the characters. Highlights include the first shot, which features Supreme Leader Snoke narrating “There has been an awakening,” followed by Finn literally awakening on Jakku, rubbing his eyes and tossing his alarm clock aside. Then there's the “BB on Board” bumper sticker on Rey's hovercraft, which should totally be sold in stores. After that there's some embarrassing Kylo Ren action thanks to a faulty lightsaber. And don't forget the classic cantina music, which no self-respecting Star Wars parody would be complete without.
According to the game's official announcement, it won't just be fun — it'll also be informative. There will be “new story content exploring the time between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens,” providing backstories for new characters like Kylo Ren. Of course, I doubt the much talked-about parentage of Rey will be revealed in a Lego video game of all things, but that won't stop the geeks from analyzing every last detail for clues. At the most, they'll probably just say Jar Jar Binks is her father. Then cue a year and a half of nail-biting from people who just aren't sure what to believe. What fun!
