LeAnn Rimes Sues Twitter Mean Girls In A Dispute That Feels A Lot Like Middle School
It seems LeAnn Rimes is back in middle school, but now middle school is the Twittersphere and hiding in the bathroom is checking into rehab.
Just a day after LeAnn voluntarily checked into a “treatment center” for stress and anxiety, she filed a lawsuit against Kimberly Smiley and her daughter Lexi Smiley for recording a phone conversation and spreading it around the internet. According to the complaint (available here on TMZ), Kimberly and Lexi committed a crime by not asking LeAnn’s permission before recording the convo and invaded her privacy by leaking the recording to the public.
Here’s a recap of the events if you're not up to date: Fans of Brandi Glanville, star of Bravo’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and ex-wife of Eddie Cibrian, have been cyber-bullying LeAnn. They've slammed her on Twitter for everything from breaking up Brandi's marriage to getting it on with Eddie to, I don't know, eating a sandwich. LeAnn, deeply hurt that anyone wouldn’t like her, decides to call Kimberly Smiley, one of the offending Tweeters, to convince her to… be nicer? Kimberly records the phone convo without LeAnn’s okay and allegedly posts it all over the internet.
Like I said, it's middle school all over again. First of all, this little escapade involves four women named Brandi, LeAnn, Kim, and Lexi. Need I say more? If there’s ever a group of tweens from Bitchville, it’s those girls. Even The CW couldn’t make this stuff up.
And then there's the phone call. Oh, the phone call. You can listen to the phone conversation on Lunatic LeAnn Rimes, which you might've guessed is a hate site. I listened to the whole thing and OH MY GOSH I WANT TO CRAWL OUT OF MY SKIN! I'm having flashbacks to the sixth grade. You guys, this is so sad.
There's a lot of back-and-forth with Kim (whose voice sounds like one of the mice from An American Tail) being way too familiar with LeAnn and caring way too much about how LeAnn treats the mother of her stepchildren. But what's so sad is that LeAnn clearly is not the one in control in this conversation. LeAnn apologizes profusely and is so obviously in need of Kimberly’s approval. And if you’ve ever been on the short end of a mean-girl spat, you know that wanting someone to like you is the one way to guarantee they never will. You have to rise above it, Le-Ri! Do not engage!
And now RadarOnline is reporting that LeAnn is also worried Eddie isn't being faithful, which also added to the need for rehab.
Boy, oh boy. You guys, I'm afraid LeAnn is turning into that untethered girl in middle school that everyone makes fun of until she does something drastic, like move to Tampa to live with her uncle for a while. I hope she gets the help she needs while she's in rehab. And maybe she can have a cupcake or something while she's there.
