Lea Michele Gets Animated For New ‘Wizard of Oz’ Movie

Lea MicheleLea Michele is heading to Oz. The Glee star has landed the lead role in the animated Wizard of Oz update Dorothy of Oz.

Lea will be the voice of Dorothy and also sing some original songs for the movie, Variety reported. Jim Belushi, Dan Aykroyd and Kelsey Grammer have all already signed on to play the Lion, Scarecrow and Tin Man, respectively, and Oliver Platt, Megan Hilty, Hugh Dancy and Martin Short round out the cast of new characters — Martin is playing Dorothy's arch nemisis, now that the Wicked Witch of the West is dead.

The movie is an update of the classic Wizard of Oz focusing on Dorothy returning to Oz after she returns to Kansas at the end of the original story. A former Broadway star, Lea's star has really risen thanks to Glee (understatement of the year) so this movie may be the first of many for her.

Dorothy of Oz may be made for kids, but we know there are plenty of older Lea Michele fans out there that will be interested to see it. Hey, we'll admit it, we loved How To Train Your Dragon. Will you want to see Lea as a cartoon?
