Law & Order: SVU Is Combining Paula Deen And Trayvon Martin In One Episode, Because Double the Racism Is Double The Fun

law & Order svu cast 2013Law & Order SVU announced via a press conference on the courthouse steps (I assume?) that they would be combining their Paula Deen and “Travyon Martin” plots into one delightfully racist episode.  The executive producer spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming story and said that as an added twist, George Bluth Sr. would be playing a lawyer. But who would be playing the lawyer's surrogate still remains up in the air.

“[Jeffrey] Tambor is a defense attorney representing a very high-profile celebrity woman chef who thought she was being pursued by a rapist and turned around it was a teenager. And she shot him,” said Leight in an interview with EW. “There’s a lot of stop and frisk elements to that as well.”

Oh right, they also threw stop and frisk in. Which makes sense to me. Whenever i”m cooking up an episode about racists, I always add a dash of stop and frisk. Also a hint of Mel Gibson's essence — sold exclusively on Etsy. Then I stir it all together for thirty minutes, say stand your ground three times in a row and wake up three days later on Michael Richard's couch next to John Mayer's penis. It's a recipe for ratings!

And personally, as a SVU aficionado, I can't wait for this episode. There's nothing I love more than spending a rainy Saturday curled up on my couch watching an oddly-themed Law & Order: SVU marathon on TV. The same applies to sunny Saturday afternoons. Can't tell you how many plans I've delayed so I can see the ending to an episode that I've already seen 16 times. “Sorry, work just called, I've got to live tweet this episode from four years ago…I know…it is weird that my boss wants that, but what can you do?” Do I think that maybe they should space out a few of these “ripped from the headlines moments?” Sure. But then again, America's racist enough that I'm sure they'll continue to have plenty of new information throughout the year.
