Did Kristen Stewart Purposefully Get Caught Cheating In An Effort To End Her Career?

As I looked through the scandalous photos of Kristen Stewart making out with director Rupert Sanders in Us Weekly, I grew angry. Not at the fact that Kristen cheated on her boyfriend Rob Pattinson, but that she did it so openly, so stupidly. In a visible car!

There's no way she doesn't know that she's one of the most watched actresses in Hollywood. There's no way that she doesn't understand that one photo of her kissing her Snow White and the Huntsman director would be sold for lots of money to the tabloid magazine willing to pay the most. She's been in the industry since she was a small child. She knows how it works.

And then it hit me. She knew that and she went for it anyways. As someone who once said that she never wanted to be famous and that she never wanted to act, she found an escape route from the acting career that she got stuck in.

In a biography on TMZ, she's quoted as saying, “I never wanted to be the center of attention — I wasn't that ‘I want to be famous, I want to be an actor' kid. I never sought out acting.” But despite that, she got cast in her first role in the movie The Thirteenth Year at 9-years-old. An age that usually makes me think that stage parents were invovled. From there she continued acting in high profile films like Panic Room, The Runwaways and of course, the Twilight series.

While many women look enviously at her career, we all know that Kristen Stewart never looked thrilled to be a part of the scene. Jokes of her not smiling are infamous and she regularly offers up a middle finger to the establishment by wearing ball gowns with sneakers down the red carpet at award shows.

But like many people, maybe she felt trapped in this career. This career that so many people would kill for. How could she just leave it? She couldn't, she couldn't just stop picking up Hollywood's calls. But Hollywood could stop calling her. She just needed a reason to make them stop picking up the phone, to make them stop offering her roles. To make them stop forcing her into this staged relationship with Robert Pattinson that some marketing team created to sell movies way back when. (Yes, I know, that's obviously not confirmed, but people have been saying it forever. Their real-life and on-screen relationship is too good to be true.)

So she openly cheated on her “boyfriend” with a married director with two young children. And she did it in a way where she knew she would be caught. Because there's photo proof, she can't deny it. Instead she just issued this apology via People.

“I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected. This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry,”

Short, simple and sweet. Heartfelt enough that people won't hate her, but still admitting enough to ensure that her career's on the downward slope. What wife will ever let their husband work with her in a movie again? What actresses will want to sit around and vouch for her personality, like Charlize Theron did during their Snow White and the Huntsman press tour.

While a single, sympathetic and heartbroken Rob Pattinson will continue to get roles, Kristen Stewart likely won't. She needed that relationship to make her seem likeable, relatable and emotional. Now, odds are, that the relationship is over. And that means her acting career is over too. The only other movies she has lined up for next year are Cali and  Snow White and the Huntsman 2, a movie that may or may not happen now. Which means she has few contractual obligations holding her down to Hollywood.

So while this might be complete speculation, something I proudly excel at, it might also be the truth. Kristen Stewart may have just quit acting while we're all focusing on her affair.
