Kristen Bell Just Proposed To Dax Shepard Post-DOMA Ruling And OMG, My Heart

Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard attending the Do Something Awards August 2011This is probably my favorite thing I've read on the internet in recent memory, you guys, and that means a lot coming from someone who's been doing dramatic readings of the Paula Deen deposition at her desk. I love this in a much less trainwreck-y, sad human type of way and in a much more ‘oh my goodness, life is beautiful and I believe in love' kind of way. In the wake of the Supreme Court striking down the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) on the grounds of its unconstitutionality today, Kristen Bell has just proposed to Dax Shepard, her longtime boyfriend and father of their adorable baby daughter Lincoln.

Honestly, I feel like I'm watching a Purina puppy chow commercial on the day before my ladytimes, that's how teary and twitterpated I am about this news right now. I was already heart-warmed enough by the fact that there are celebrities out there who were publicly waiting to get married until it was a right that was extended to all citizens, regardless of sexual orientation (Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are another notable example, although they became engaged last year after pressure from their kids, which is totally understandable), but this is just a little bit too much for me to handle.

This is the day, you guys! This is the day that it became a reality that I can dance at my best friends' weddings! I love you, Supreme Court! And you, my wonderful gay boyzies from Portland! And you, Kristen Bell! And you and you and all of you! I am honestly tearing up at my desk, and Kristen is decidedly not helping me maintain my composure. After the decision was made public, Kristen tweeted this morning:

Okay, goodnight. Goodbye. I'm done for the day. My poor fluttery heart can't take this kind of warming. It's warmed enough! I love that they waited, I love that Kristen proposed to Dax, I love that she did it publicly on Twitter instead of selling the story to a magazine. I just love all of it. I'm effusive, I know. I'm sorry. I think I gotta wrap up this post so I can go propose to Kristen Bell on Twitter because she just made me the happiest little gal who ever sat in a cubicle writing about celebrities all day.
