Kitty Pryde’s ‘Give Me Scabies’ (Hopefully) Puts The Final Nail In The Coffin For ‘Call Me Maybe’ Covers

Carly Rae Jepsen‘s “Call Me Maybe” has finally hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, you guys! Too bad the people of the Internet have already ruined it forever by covering and remixing it right side up, sideways, and down, down, down, into an untimely grave. But before we say goodbye to this song forever (or at least a good long while), let's listen to Kitty Pryde's brilliant hip hop remix, amusingly titled “Give Me Scabies.” It's good, trust me.

Taken from her new EP “haha, i'm sorry,” the song (which you can listen to here) features an amusing combo of Jepsen's original chorus and some smooth, Kenny G style sax, over which Kitty delivers her characteristic brain-twisting rhymes about (what else?) a boy she likes. As usual, she manages to sound coy and laid back even though she's actually rapping pretty quickly, and the more I listen to this girl's music, the more I think she's not just another Tumblr-wave novelty act. I mean, who could get mad at turns of phrase like “I'm dead and I wanna cuddle in your bed/Always dreads, never braids/And my brain, you make it mushy like the Everglades“? Not me. Definitely not me.

The whole EP is available for the reasonable price of $1, or if that's too steep for you, Kitty has uploaded it a bunch of times to Mediafire, because “idk lol i hate payin for thngs 2.” It might not be the last cover and/or remix of “Call Me Maybe,” but it's the last one I'm going to listen to, because I really enjoyed the original song and would like for this to end on a good note.
