Kim Kardashian Just Discovered That Racism Exists, So Let’s Give Her A Round Of Applause

Kim Kardashian i dont like it head shake

Quick, somebody order a medal for Kim Kardashian, because it only took her 33 years to realize that racism exists, and this brilliant discovery must be rewarded. Now that she knows about it, she's ready to take a stand by writing about it on her blog. Did you guys know that sometimes people discriminate against other people because of their race? It's like so mean, and we should really do something about it.

In a post titled “On My Mind,” Kim admits that becoming a mom has opened her eyes to many new things, both happy and sad. The one really sad thing it's taught her about is racism, which she was like so not worried about before:

“To be honest, before I had North, I never really gave racism or discrimination a lot of thought. It is obviously a topic that Kanye is passionate about, but I guess it was easier for me to believe that it was someone else’s battle. But recently, I’ve read and personally experienced some incidents that have sickened me and made me take notice. I realize that racism and discrimination are still alive, and just as hateful and deadly as they ever have been.”

I guess we can't really be surprised that Kim didn't think about racism because it's not something that affected her, since that seems to be her philosophy about everything in life. It's nice that she can admit that now, even if it took three decades and popping out a baby to understand that she was wrong. (P.S. I wonder why she thinks Kanye's passion about race issues should be “obvious.”)

Kim goes on to declare that she wants to do something to solve this newly discovered problem:

“I feel a responsibility as a mother, a public figure, a human being, to do what I can to make sure that not only my child, but all children, don’t have to grow up in a world where they are judged by the color of their skin, or their gender, or their sexual orientation.”

For now the extent of her plan to end hate once and for all is to just “stop pretending like this isn’t my issue or my problem, because it is, it’s everyone’s.” It's nice that Kim is starting to realize there are other people in the world besides herself, and that racism isn't just a select group of people's issue to deal with. It's pretty disconcerting she's just now finding out about it and taking a “You guys, did you know about this?” tone with it, but I don't know what I was expecting. I smell a very special episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians coming up.
