Kim Kardashian Is Okay With Guns, So Long As They Are Covered In Diamonds

Just a couple of months after she signed a gun control petition in the wake of the shootings at Sandy Hook elementary, Kim Kardashian has seemingly revised her stance on gun control. Guns are not cool or glamorous, you see…unless they have sparkly diamonds on them.

Let's back up a bit. After the Sandy Hook shootings, Kim signed a petition for stronger gun control laws, and tweeted thusly about it: “Today, people in Newtown are making the #sandyhookpromise to reduce gun violence. Sign the pledge with me.” While some skeptics questioned the depth of her commitment to this cause, it was an easy way to score some free PR points, because yes, gun violence is bad.

But it wasn't long before the pregnant preener encountered a designer gun covered in diamonds and, entranced by its expensive glow, forgot she was not supposed to love guns and tweeted the above photo of it. Some people were not amused:

This is not the first time Kim has tweeted a photo of a gun, either; she tweeted a photo of a YSL handgun a while back, and she has been known to go to the shooting range.

While it's theoretically possible to be in favor of responsible gun ownership while at the same time supporting gun control measures like background checks and bans on certain types of assault rifles, this seems in a bit of poor taste, no? A gun is not a toy, and pimping it out as just one more blingy luxury item in your drawer sends a rather irresponsible message to all the kids who, for unknown reasons, look up to her. Kim has since deleted the tweet, but it's too late; she's already been unmasked. That's right: as it turns out, Kim Kardashian, previously thought to be a genius, might not be the most thoughtful person in the world. What a scandal.
