Fans are furious with Kim Kardashian over her Halloween costume choices this year. The Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, who paid tribute to legendary stars this Halloween, struck a negative chord – not once, but TWICE! Both her Aaliyah and Selena Quintanilla-themed costumes really seemed to piss everyone off.

Kim, who took on Aaliyah’s look from her 2001 hit “Try Again,” wore an embellished choker, a matching bra, high-waisted leather pants, and heels. When she showed off her costume on social media, fans immediately began criticizing the reality star, accusing her of being racist — which is pretty much a common critique for all of the Kardashian-Jenners.

One Twitter user wrote, “Legend or not Aaliyah is a black woman and you’re not. It’s offensive and you shouldn’t push this limit, but ok… ?.”

But not everyone was mad at Kim’s costume’s choice. In fact, the majority came to her defense.

Just when the dust had settled with the Aaliyah costume backlash, Kim stepped out on Halloween night dressed as the iconic Mexican-American singer, Selena Quintanilla. She wore the late singer’s iconic purple jumpsuit paired with a long black wig, bright red lipstick and hoop earrings. Not only did she channel the Latin star to perfection, but she got to flaunt her famous Kardashian curves while doing it.

She even shared a video to Twitter, singing into a prop microphone.

When have you ever seen Kim look this happy? Her happiness must have been short-lived since fans were quick to slam her costume choice all over again. Some fan even went as far as saying that her costume made them uncomfortable, while another said, “Halloween is cancelled.”

There were even people who claim Kim stole Demi Lovato‘s costume. The “Sorry Not Sorry” singer showed off her Selena costume on Snapchat over the weekend, and fans were absolutely loving it. For Demi, it wasn’t even a question that it didn’t classify as cultural appropriation, because Demi is a Latina woman herself.

Again, many fans loved Kim’s costume choice and took to Twitter to defend her.

However, not all of Kim’s costumes caused controversy. Her Sonny and Cher costume, with BFF Jonathan Cheban, was perfect. They pulled it off so well that even the legend herself, Cher, gave Kim her stamp of approval. Let’s not forget to mention her Madonna and Michael Jackson costume with sister  Kourtney Kardashian was A+, as well.

What did you think of Kim’s costumes choices? Were they offensive or are people just being hard on the reality star?
