Kerry Washington Says Thanks For The Congrats, Still Won’t Admit She Had A Baby

Kerry Washington attending Vanity Fair Oscar party March 2014The notoriously private Kerry Washington wants to thank you for all your good wishes about…um…whatever it is you're congratulating her on. It's probably a safe assumption that its on the birth of her daughter, Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha, but we really can't say for sure, given that Kerry still refuses to acknowledge that a tiny human actually passed out of her body.

Kerry has always been secretive about her personal life — she started dating in secret, got married in secret, and kept her pregnancy a secret until her baby bump literally came bursting onto the scene in that white dress at the Golden Globes and in the crop top at the SAG Awards. Basically, she won't address things until they've already happened, which she's taken to a new level by refusing to openly acknowledge that she had a goddamn baby in April! She successfully kept that fact under wraps for almost two full weeks before the news broke on May 2nd, but you wouldn't know that from her tweets!

Obviously it's pretty easy to figure out what she's referring to, given the Mother's Day hashtag and the fact that pretty much everyone is tweeting congratulations to her on the new baby, but still — so secretive! I've always been impressed by Kerry's ability and willingness to put her money where her mouth is as far as living her life away from the spotlight, but this has gotta be a new record.

Here's what she told Glamour last year as an explanation for her extremely private lifestyle:

“I have girlfriends in this business who talk about their personal lives, and it works for them, and I love it. But not for me. I learned through experience that it doesn't work for me to talk about my personal life. […] I couldn't just turn around and say, ‘I only want to talk about the good stuff, but not the bad stuff.' So I just thought, ‘OK, no more.'”

So thanks everybody for the congratulations on that thing we all know happened but maybe it didn't because public is private and private is public. Confused yet? Perrrfect.
