Kanye West Stopped A Concert To Complain About How Super Hard His Life Is

Kanye was brought in as a replacement to perform at the Wireless festival in London after Drake got sick and couldn't do it himself, so he already wasn't anyone's first choice. But that feeling only got stronger when he stopped his set for twenty minutes in the middle of the song ‘Runaway' to complain about how hard his life is. And bear in mind that this is Kanye we're talking about, so it wasn't just random griping — it was like, Art Bitching. He frequently spoke about himself in the third person, wore a beaded silver mask over his face, and had the whole thing accompanied on keyboard.

During the rant itself, Kanye covered all types of ground, talking about being placed on probation after fighting with a photographer, the way he's been portrayed as ‘crazy', referring to paparazzi intrusion into his life as ‘rape', and threatening to ‘stop every paparazzi [sic] one by one' if he weren't on probation. Charming.

“I don’t care what you do in life, everybody needs a day off, everybody has the right to say, ‘You know what, I need a minute to breathe’. I want to bring my family to the movies without thirty motherfuckers following me. Everybody here, they like sex right? Sex is great when you and your partner are like, ‘Hey, this is what we both want to do’. But if one of those people don't want to do that, what is that called? That's called rape. That is called violation.”

Ohhhhh boy. I guess technically that's the correct use of that term, but you're on dangerous ground, here. Particularly because nobody places themselves in the public eye more than you and Kim Kardashian.

“I want my daughter to have that opportunity to decide whether she wants to be famous or not. I think to myself, what the fuck am I going to do, how can I change it and how can I give my daughter her childhood?”

SORRY WHAT? I couldn't hear you over all the hypocrisy. Your daughter is barely a year old and she's already been in Vogue, so I think the ship has kind of sailed on her making any kind of decision as to her future fame.

Throughout the rant, the crowd was apparently restless, sometimes booing and chanting ‘we want Drake!', with a few people even leaving the concert as his ramblings neared the twenty-minute mark. Eventually he did do some songs from Yeezus and get back to, y'know, actually playing the concert he was at, but it's nice to be reminded that Kanye is just as un-self-aware as I remembered. What a relief.
