NonBelieber Exhibit B: Justin Bieber Receives Strongly Worded Statement From Pro-Hamster Organization

Justin Bieber took some flack from animal rights organizations when he auctioned off his pet snake Johnson last year, but it seems he didn't learn much from the episode, because now he's gone and gotten the hamster people mad at him, too.

The other day in Atlanta, the Biebs gave his pet hamster Pac to a random screaming fan after she screamed that she promised to take care of him. Not surprisingly, this angered the California Hamster Organization (which is real!), which told TMZ its gripes in no uncertain terms:

The CHA tells us … hamsters are fragile creatures that “often succumb quickly to illness and death,” especially when faced with “sudden environmental change.”In short … “The moment that hamster was handed off to a screaming girl in a harsh, frenzied environment was likely the moment it gazed at the short path to its doom.”

Do you hear that, Justin Bieber? That means death! What did little Pac do to deserve this, except maybe be kind of a lame pet? Then again, what were you expecting, for the hamster to play fetch with you?

The fan who received the hamster has vowed to treat him “like a tiny rodent king,” but let's not let that distract from the real issue here: who keeps selling animals to Justin Bieber? We know at this point that he's just going to pick out pets that are well known to be boring and crappy (sorry snakes and hamsters, but it's true), and then give them away when he gets sick of taking care of them, so what gives? Belieb it or not, animals are not inanimate objects to be passed around like so many commemorative Justin Bieber baseball caps. I'd suggest he look to more engaging pets, like dogs, but he has not shown himself to be very responsible, so I'm just going to hope he never has kids and leave it at that.
